SoPo Seafood
South Portland, ME | Interiors: Salt of Maine Design Co. | Photography: Meredith Brockington
When this beloved seafood market and raw bar relocated from its original drydock space, it offered the perfect opportunity to reimagine the brand experience with a lighter, fresher look. In collaboration with Janeen Arnold of Salt of Maine Design Co., the design team embraced a palette of soft coastal hues, bold graphic patterns, and airy finishes that reflect the market’s commitment to high-quality, sustainable seafood with none of the grit often associated with traditional fish markets.
The lighting design supports this transformation by keeping the space bright, clean, and inviting. Carefully positioned fixtures highlight the decorative ceiling tile pattern while helping define transitions between the retail shop and raw bar/food service zones. Functional but glare-free lighting ensures visual comfort for both staff and patrons, while reinforcing the crisp, approachable vibe of the interior design.
This is not your average fish market; Seafood has become a Knightville favorite by combining hospitality, freshness, and design-forward thinking into one light-filled neighborhood destination.
