Twinflower at night in winter

Twinflower Cabin

Norway, ME | Architect: Whitten Architects | Photography: BlueHour & Kris Roller

Set against the wooded backdrop of Norway, Maine, this modern cabin was designed to embody a sense of warmth, comfort, and intimacy - reflecting the client’s vision of a cozy mountainside escape.

The lighting strategy focused on creating a layered, low-glare environment that complements the cabin’s clean architectural lines and natural material palette. Indirect and integrated lighting details—such as illuminated bookshelves, accent-lit vinyl storage, and a subtly glowing shower tile wall—anchor the design, allowing light to feel like a natural extension of the architecture rather than an added element.

A centralized touchscreen control system allows the client to tailor the mood with ease, while warm-dimming fixtures throughout the home shift down to 1800K, echoing the softness of firelight and supporting a restful, fireside ambiance. The result is a deliberately quiet and atmospheric lighting composition - minimal in appearance, but rich in emotional impact.
